How it works
You do the paperwork once, at pickup. We handle the carrier search, the scheduling and the follow-up.

Enter your pickup and delivery city or ZIP, the vehicle, and whether it runs. Address suggestions and road miles come from Google Maps as you type. Submit, and we send the request to licensed carriers already running your lane. Within business hours a specialist calls with firm pricing and the earliest pickup window.
No deposit and no obligation until you choose a carrier.

Pick the date range that works and we lock in a carrier. The dispatcher calls the day before pickup to confirm a window. At the truck, the driver inspects the car with you, notes any existing marks on a bill of lading, and you both sign. Keep your copy; it is your proof of condition.
The pickup inspection report protects you if anything is disputed later.

Your car rides with a handful of others on a fixed route. You get the driver's number and status updates by text or email as the truck moves. At delivery you inspect the car against the pickup report, sign, and pay the carrier the balance. Most customers are back in their car within an hour of the truck arriving.
Pay the carrier only when the car is in front of you and checked.

Why AutoShippingUS
We do not own trucks; we run a vetted network of licensed carriers. We find the right one for your lane, hold it to the price, and answer when you call. Your details go to that carrier and nobody else.

We only send your request to carriers with active FMCSA operating authority, a current cargo insurance certificate on file, and a safety record we have reviewed. New carriers are checked against the federal SAFER database and the insurance filings before they see a single load, and a carrier that leaves a damage claim unresolved is suspended from receiving our requests. You will always know the carrier's name and DOT number before your car is assigned.
The range you see in our form is built from the same distance bands, vehicle classes and seasonal factors the carriers use, so the firm quote lands inside it far more often than not. There are no booking fees, no fuel surcharges added after the fact, and no charge for cancelling before a carrier is dispatched. If the price a carrier offers is higher than our estimate, the specialist explains why before you agree to anything.
Every request is worked by a shipping specialist at a staffed phone line seven days a week, from 7am to 9pm Eastern. You get a direct number and a name, not a ticket queue. The same person follows your shipment from booking to delivery, coordinates with dispatch when a truck runs late, and picks up the phone if something at delivery does not look right.
Carriers' cargo policies cover your car while it is on the truck, and we make sure you can read them. Before pickup you receive the certificate of insurance with the coverage limit and deductible. If anything is wrong at delivery, note it on the bill of lading before signing and call us. We stay on the claim with the carrier until it is settled, and we explain what your own auto policy does and does not add.
Open vs enclosed
Nine in ten cars ship on open carriers, the same trucks that deliver new vehicles to dealerships, and for a daily-driven sedan or SUV that is the right call. Enclosed transport is the choice for cars whose finish or value justifies a higher price: classics, exotics, luxury models and anything with under five inches of ground clearance that needs a liftgate rather than ramps.

Winter 2026–27
Southbound carrier space on the I-95 and I-75 corridors fills from mid-October. Booking two to three weeks ahead of your travel date keeps your pickup window flexible and your price at the lower end of the range.

888-706-8784Most open-carrier shipments fall between $500 and $2,000. A run under 500 miles is typically $500–$750, a 1,000–1,500 mile move like New York to Florida is usually $900–$1,300, and coast-to-coast is $1,400–$2,000 for a sedan. Enclosed transport adds roughly 40–60%. SUVs, trucks, inoperable vehicles and peak-season dates push the number toward the top of the range. The estimate in our form uses the same distance bands; carriers then confirm a firm price for your exact dates.
Plan on one to five days for a carrier to pick up after you book, then roughly 400–500 highway miles of travel per day. New York to Miami is usually 3–5 days on the truck; Los Angeles to New York is 7–10. Cross-country trucks make several stops for other customers along the way, which is why transit is quoted as a window rather than a date. Expedited pickup is available on most lanes for a premium.
Yes. Every carrier in our network carries cargo insurance, and coverage is confirmed before your vehicle is assigned. Ask the dispatcher for the certificate of insurance and read the limit and deductible. The inspection report the driver completes at pickup is the document a claim is judged against, so walk the car with the driver and photograph every panel yourself before it loads. Coverage is the carrier's, not ours, and we explain how to read it on our insurance guide.
You pay nothing to AutoShippingUS to get quotes, and no deposit is taken from you until a carrier has been assigned and a pickup window agreed. Most carriers collect the balance at delivery by cash, cashier's check or card. If anyone asks you for a large deposit before a truck has been dispatched, treat that as a warning sign and call us.
Open carriers are the two-level trucks you see on the interstate carrying eight to ten vehicles. They are the cheapest and most available option and are how dealerships move new cars. Enclosed carriers are hard-sided trailers that hold two to six vehicles, protect against weather and road debris, and typically use liftgates for low-clearance cars. Choose enclosed for classic, exotic, luxury or freshly restored vehicles, or any car whose value makes a 40–60% premium worth the peace of mind.
An adult you trust must be there to hand over the keys, sign the inspection report and, at delivery, inspect the car and sign again. It does not have to be you. Many customers have a neighbor, a family member, a building doorman or a dealership accept the car. Tell the driver in advance who to expect and share their phone number.
Yes, as long as it rolls, steers and brakes. Inoperable vehicles need a carrier with a winch, which adds about $150 to the price and can lengthen the search for a truck by a day or two. If the car cannot roll at all, it needs a forklift-equipped carrier and a custom quote. Tell us about the condition in the form so the estimate and the truck are right the first time.
Two to three weeks ahead is the sweet spot for a good price and a flexible pickup window. Carriers plan their loads about a week out, so booking 7–10 days before your first available date puts your car on their board when they are building routes. Inside 48 hours is possible on busy corridors but costs more. Snowbird season (October–January southbound, March–May northbound) and late summer sell out fastest.
Tell us your route and vehicle, and licensed carriers compete for your booking. No deposit to us, no obligation.
