The Northeast's car-hauling business is based a few miles from downtown Newark. The yards in Linden, Elizabeth and Kearny are where trucks bound for Florida, Texas and the West Coast load every morning and where northbound trucks unload every evening, and Newark and its suburbs are the first and last stops on most of them. That makes a Newark pickup one of the fastest in the region, typically within a day or two, and the price a step below New York City on the same lane because the truck is already on the Turnpike.
The customers are Essex County's snowbirds heading for the Palm Beaches, Boca and Naples every fall, relocations to and from the downtown employers and the Prudential and university district, students at Rutgers Newark and NJIT, the large dealer and export trade around the port, and the many people who use Newark airport as a handover for a car going anywhere. The city's older wards are tight for a truck; the suburbs around it are easy. The quote form above is set to Newark; add the other end of the trip and your vehicle for a range.

The suburbs are driveway pickups. Bloomfield, Belleville, Nutley, Montclair's wider streets, Glen Ridge, West Orange, Livingston, Millburn, Maplewood, South Orange, Union, Hillside and Irvington's wider blocks take a 75-foot truck wherever the street lets it turn without reversing. The Ironbound, downtown, and the denser blocks of the North and Central wards have double-parked cars, narrow streets and low wires, and the driver names a lot on Route 21, Frelinghuysen Avenue or near the Prudential Center, or a garage exit at a larger building.
The airport is the easiest handover in the Northeast. The hotel and long-term lots along Route 1 and 9 and Frontage Road are minutes from the yards, drivers use them daily, and a car can be collected the morning of your flight or delivered to meet an arrival. Give your specialist the flight time and the handover is scheduled around it.
The port comes up because it is next door. For a domestic shipment Port Newark is not involved; the car goes door to door on a truck. Overseas shipping is a separate service with customs paperwork. Dealers around the port and along Route 22 ship cars out of state constantly; if the car is coming from one, give your specialist the sales desk's number and the pickup is arranged with them.
Before the truck comes: pull the E-ZPass so the Turnpike gantries do not bill it, keep anything in the car to a small bag in the trunk, and photograph every panel in daylight. The driver wants one key and a look at a photo ID. Your title stays home, and a lease or loan does not need anyone's sign-off to cross a state line. From December through March a nor'easter can hold a pickup a day; carriers wait and nothing is charged.

The hotel lots on Route 1 and 9 are the practical handover for anyone flying. Tell your specialist the flight and the collection or delivery is timed to match it.
