Tampa Bay is the first big stop for every car hauler coming down I-75 from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Minnesota, and the last big stop for trucks heading north in spring. That makes it the natural delivery point for the Midwest's Gulf Coast contingent and a quick, well-priced origin for anyone leaving. Relocations to the bay area's finance, health-care and defense employers, USF students, MacDill families, and buyers collecting cars from Tampa's dealer groups fill in the rest of the year.
The bay area is an easy place for a truck. It is wide and flat, most of it is suburban, and the communities are built around cars. The complications are the ones any coastal city has, barrier islands, a few tight older neighborhoods and hurricane season, and the carriers who run the lane handle each of them every week. The quote form above is set to Tampa; add the other end of the trip and your vehicle for a range.

The suburbs are driveway pickups. Brandon, Riverview, Valrico, Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes, Lutz, Carrollwood, Westchase, Citrus Park and Temple Terrace on the Hillsborough side; Largo, Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Safety Harbor, Pinellas Park and Seminole across the bay. South Tampa's narrower streets, Hyde Park, Seminole Heights, Ybor and downtown mean a lot on a main road, and St. Petersburg's older grid downtown is the same. The barrier islands, Clearwater Beach, St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island and Anna Maria, usually meet the driver on the mainland side of the causeway.
Gated communities are the norm in the newer developments. Wesley Chapel, Lakewood Ranch, Sun City Center, Apollo Beach and the retirement communities along US-19 in Pasco and Pinellas meet the driver at the visitor gate or a plaza nearby and you drive the last half mile. Name a receiver if you are flying ahead of the car and give them the pickup photographs and the driver's number.
Two local variables. Bridge traffic on the Howard Frankland, the Gandy and the Courtney Campbell slows drivers at rush hour, so cross-bay deliveries are scheduled off-peak. And from August through October a Gulf storm can close the causeways for a day or two; carriers wait rather than drive into it and nothing is charged for the hold. Tampa International's hotel lots off Spruce Street are the usual handover for anyone flying the same day.
Two more things Tampa customers ask. Belongings: under about 100 pounds, below the window line, uninsured, and never anything you would miss on a household move. And seasonal storage: a car left in the bay area through the summer should be under cover with the battery on a tender, and insurance kept active, because the humidity and the sun are hard on a parked car.

Midwest cars reach Tampa before Fort Myers, Naples or Miami, and we quote the window that goes with it: a Detroit or Chicago pickup on Monday is often in the bay by Wednesday or Thursday.
Carriers work Hillsborough and Pinellas on the same trip, so a St. Petersburg or Clearwater address is priced and scheduled like Tampa itself, not as an add-on.
Some communities admit a truck and some want a plaza handover, and the bridges crawl at rush hour. Your specialist confirms the spot and the hour when the truck is assigned, which is the difference between a twenty-minute delivery and an afternoon.

One to three days. Tampa Bay is where I-75 arrives in Florida, so Midwest carriers reach it first on every southbound load and northbound loads start here in spring.
Yes; the whole bay area and the coast down to Sarasota and Venice are on the same load. The barrier islands and beach communities usually mean a meeting point on the mainland side of the causeway.
South Tampa's narrower streets, Hyde Park, Seminole Heights and downtown. Brandon, Riverview, Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes, Carrollwood, Westchase and the Pinellas suburbs are direct to the door.
Yes. Wesley Chapel, Lakewood Ranch, Sun City Center and the communities along US-19 meet the driver at the visitor gate or a plaza nearby; you drive the last stretch. It does not change the price.
Inbound from November through January and outbound from March through early May, following the Gulf Coast season. Summer is steady with relocations and USF moves.
From August through October a Gulf storm can close the causeways for a day or two. Carriers wait it out at no charge and your specialist reschedules around it.
