Cleveland's snowbirds tend to end up on Florida's Atlantic side, and the highway explains it. Trucks leaving the east and west suburbs run I-77 south through Akron, Charleston, the Virginias and Charlotte to Columbia, then I-26 to I-95, which arrives at Jacksonville and works down through Orlando, the Space Coast and the Palm Beaches. It is a day longer than the Columbus-to-Gulf-Coast run and priced a step higher, and Gulf Coast cars take I-71 to I-75 instead. The yards in Brook Park near Hopkins and in Twinsburg along I-271 turn loads around for both.
The customers are Cuyahoga, Lake and Lorain county snowbirds from October, relocations to and from the Clinic, University Hospitals and the downtown employers, students at Case and John Carroll every August and May, and cars moving between the region's dealers and buyers elsewhere. Akron and Canton are on the way south and ride the same loads. The outer suburbs are easy for a truck; the inner ring and the lakefront neighborhoods are meeting points, and lake-effect snow is the winter fact on the east side. The quote form above is set to Cleveland; add the other end of the trip and your vehicle for a range.

The outer suburbs are driveway pickups. Westlake, Avon, Avon Lake, North Olmsted, Strongsville, North Royalton, Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Independence, Solon, Beachwood's wider streets, Pepper Pike, Hudson, Aurora, Twinsburg, Mentor, Willoughby and Chardon take a 75-foot truck wherever the street lets it turn without reversing and the snow allows. Gated communities are few; where they exist, the driver meets you at the gate.
The inner ring is a meeting point. Ohio City, Tremont, Detroit Shoreway, Little Italy, University Circle, Cleveland Heights' and Shaker Heights' narrower streets, Lakewood's side streets and downtown have parked cars, mature trees and no room to turn, and the driver names a big-box lot off I-90, I-480, I-271 or on the Steelyard and Crocker Park sides. Hopkins' hotel lots off I-71 in Brook Park are the usual handover for anyone flying the same day, minutes from the yard.
Winter is the season's fact. Lake-effect bands off Lake Erie hit the east side and the Snowbelt hardest and can hold a pickup a day or two from November through March; carriers wait at no charge. I-77 through West Virginia closes in storms and drivers wait it out. Start the car that morning so it loads under its own power, clear the driveway, and meet on a plowed main road if yours is not done.
Before the truck comes: pull the E-ZPass so the Turnpike gantries do not bill it, keep anything in the car to a small bag in the trunk, and photograph every panel in daylight. The driver wants one key and a look at a photo ID. Your title stays home, and a lease or loan does not need anyone's sign-off to cross a state line.

Cleveland cars go south through Charlotte to the Atlantic coast, and we quote the transit window and price for that route and its extra day, rather than a Columbus figure that does not apply.
Loads for both the Atlantic and Gulf Coast lanes turn around beside the airport and along I-271, so we schedule a Cleveland pickup as a stop on a departing load and quote days rather than a week, even in October.
From November to March your specialist checks the east-side forecast against your window. If a band is coming through, you hear about it before the driver is stuck on I-271, and rescheduling costs nothing.

Two to three days. Cleveland's Florida-bound trucks head south on I-77 through Charlotte, a day longer than Columbus's I-75 route, and the yards in Brook Park and Twinsburg along I-480 and I-271 turn loads around.
I-77 south through Akron, Charleston, the Virginias and Charlotte to Columbia, then I-26 to I-95 and down the Atlantic coast, which is why Orlando and the Palm Beaches are Cleveland's most common destinations. Gulf Coast cars go I-71 to I-75.
Ohio City, Tremont, Little Italy, Cleveland Heights' narrower streets, Lakewood's side streets and downtown. Westlake, Avon, Strongsville, North Royalton, Solon, Beachwood, Hudson, Mentor and the outer suburbs are direct to the door.
The east side gets a lot of it. A band can hold a pickup a day or two from November through March, and carriers wait at no charge. Start the car that morning and clear the driveway.
Outbound to Florida from October through December, inbound from late March through May. Summer is relocations and Clinic and university moves. Late February through April is cheapest southbound.
Yes; both are on I-77 on the way south and collected on the same loads, often at the same price as Cleveland.
