Car shipping in Fort Myers: where the I-75 run ends

For a car hauler leaving Columbus, Detroit, Cincinnati or Chicago, Lee County is where the I-75 lane runs out. The carrier yards at Colonial Boulevard and Alico Road are where drivers unload the last of a southbound load, sleep, and start building the northbound one, which makes Fort Myers one of the quickest places on the Gulf Coast to get a truck and a natural origin for anyone heading north. Ohio in particular has a long habit here; Fort Myers is the first destination for Columbus and Cincinnati snowbirds.

The county is big and mostly new, which makes it easy for a truck. Cape Coral's grid, the developments along Daniels Parkway and Treeline, Gateway, Estero and Bonita Springs are wide-street, gated and used to car haulers. The old town and the islands are the exceptions. Relocations to the growing health-care and logistics employers, FGCU students and buyers collecting cars from the dealer row on US-41 fill in the year between seasons. Pickup and delivery in Lee County

South Fort Myers, the Daniels Parkway corridor, Gateway, Treeline, San Carlos Park, Estero and Bonita Springs are driveway pickups where the street lets a 75-foot truck turn, and gate meetings where it does not; most of the developments restrict commercial trucks and the driver meets you at the visitor entrance or the nearest plaza. Cape Coral is direct in the newer northern and western sections and a meeting point on Del Prado or Pine Island Road in the older southeast Cape, where the canal streets are tight. Lehigh Acres' unpaved side roads usually mean a handover on Lee Boulevard. Downtown Fort Myers' river district and the older neighborhoods off McGregor mean a lot on a main road.

The islands are by meeting point. Sanibel's causeway and Fort Myers Beach's narrow roads keep most carriers on the mainland, and the driver hands over in south Fort Myers. Pine Island is the same.

Receiving without the owner is common. Name the community office, a property manager or a neighbor at booking, send them the pickup photographs and the bill of lading, and give them the driver's number. Southwest Florida International's hotel lots on Daniels Parkway are the handover for anyone flying the same day. From August through October a Gulf storm can hold a delivery by a day or two; carriers wait and nothing is charged.

Why AutoShippingUS

Why Fort Myers drivers choose AutoShippingUS

  • Scheduled where the trucks turn around

Carrier yards sit in Fort Myers, so southbound loads finish and northbound loads start in Lee County. We schedule pickups in both directions from those turnarounds rather than waiting for a truck still working Miami.

  • The Ohio and Michigan lanes, priced at the Fort Myers stop

Columbus, Cincinnati, Detroit and Grand Rapids to Fort Myers are priced at the Fort Myers stop rather than at Naples or Miami, and the seasonal return is priced with the outbound trip when you book both.

  • Cape, gate and island handovers confirmed in advance

Whether the address is a canal lot in the Cape, a gated community off Daniels or a house on Sanibel, your specialist confirms the handover point when the truck is assigned, not on the day.
