Tucson gets the same trucks Phoenix does, a day later. Carriers coming down I-17 from the Midwest and in on I-10 from California unload across the Valley first, then continue south to Oro Valley, the foothills, the east side, Vail and Green Valley, which is why a Tucson delivery runs a day behind Phoenix and $50 to $100 above it from northern origins. The yards near Davis-Monthan and in Marana turn some loads around locally, and I-10 traffic between Los Angeles and Texas keeps the lane busy in both directions all year.
Three things drive demand. Winter residents from the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest, concentrated in Green Valley, SaddleBrooke, Oro Valley's active-adult communities and the foothills. Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, which generates PCS moves in every month and a crunch in summer. And the University of Arizona, which moves in mid-August and out in mid-May. Relocations to the aerospace, mining and health-care employers and a busy dealer row on 22nd Street fill in the rest. The quote form above is set to Tucson; add the other end of the trip and your vehicle for a range.

Most of the metro is a driveway pickup. Oro Valley, Marana, the northwest side along Ina and Orange Grove, the east side off Tanque Verde and Broadway, Rita Ranch, Vail, Sahuarita and Green Valley all take a 75-foot truck wherever the street lets it turn. The gated communities, which is most of Oro Valley, SaddleBrooke, Dove Mountain and the newer developments, admit a delivery truck with a call from the resident or meet the driver at the visitor lane; it does not change the price.
The exceptions are the core and the hills. Downtown, Armory Park, Sam Hughes, West University and the streets around the campus are narrow with mature trees and parked cars, and the driver names a lot on Speedway, Broadway or Campbell. The Catalina foothills above Skyline and the streets climbing toward Sabino Canyon are steep and winding, and the handover is at a plaza on Sunrise or Skyline. Tucson International's hotel lots on Tucson Boulevard are the usual handover for anyone flying the same day.
Davis-Monthan sets its own rules. Carriers do not enter the base; the driver meets you at a lot outside the gate on Golf Links or Craycroft or at your off-base address, and your specialist confirms the spot when the truck is assigned. Put the report date on the booking; until a carrier is dispatched, dates move with your orders at no charge.
The sun is the local fact. A car sitting outside all season wants a windshield shade and a tire-pressure check after the first hot week; a car left through the summer should be covered with the battery on a tender and insurance kept active. Belongings stay under about 100 pounds, below the window line, uninsured. Green Valley and SaddleBrooke residents often have the community office or a neighbor receive the car; name them at booking and send them the pickup photos and the driver's number.

We assign Tucson shipments to carriers that have planned the stop into their Phoenix load, so the day-behind window we quote is a real window and not an open-ended wait.
PCS season, mid-August and mid-May are the tight windows here. If your dates fall in them your specialist says so at the first call and asks you to book three weeks ahead.
A community office or a neighbor can receive the car for a winter resident. Your specialist sets it up at booking, with the pickup photos and the driver's number in the receiver's hands before the truck arrives.

The government ships one privately owned vehicle for OCONUS moves; for CONUS PCS you drive or pay to ship. Second vehicles and most stateside moves are out of pocket, and a monetary allowance may offset part of the cost. Book as soon as orders are in hand.

Your car is covered by the carrier’s cargo insurance while it is on the truck, typically $100,000–$250,000 per load on open carriers and more on enclosed. The Bill of Lading inspection at pickup and delivery is what makes a claim provable.
