Sacramento is where a car hauler chooses its road east. I-80 climbs from here over Donner Pass to Reno, Salt Lake City and the Plains, the northern route to Chicago and the East Coast; I-5 runs north to Oregon and south to the I-10 and I-40 lanes. The yards in West Sacramento and Roseville build loads for both, which makes the region a quick pickup in any month and a natural origin for Denver, Salt Lake, the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest as well as Texas and the East.
The customers are relocations to and from the state's capital and its employers, families leaving the Bay Area for Roseville, Folsom and El Dorado Hills and then leaving again for Idaho, Nevada, Texas and Arizona, students at UC Davis and Sacramento State, military families at Travis and Beale, and retirees heading for the Sierra foothills and beyond. The valley floor is flat and easy for a truck; the foothills and the Tahoe basin are meeting points. The quote form above is set to Sacramento; add the other end of the trip and your vehicle for a range.

The suburbs are driveway pickups. Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Elk Grove, Natomas, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Davis and West Sacramento take a 75-foot truck wherever the street lets it turn without reversing. Gated communities in Serrano, Whitney Oaks, Granite Bay and the Folsom developments admit a delivery truck with a call from the resident or meet the driver at the gate; it does not change the price.
The old city is a meeting point. Midtown, East Sacramento's tree-lined streets, Land Park, Curtis Park, Oak Park and downtown have mature canopy, narrow streets and parked cars, and the driver names a big-box lot off I-80, US-50 or Highway 99, or a garage exit at a larger building. Sacramento International's hotel lots off I-5 at the airport exit are the usual handover for anyone flying the same day.
The foothills and Tahoe are handled from the highway. Auburn, Grass Valley, Placerville and Cameron Park meet the driver at a plaza near I-80 or US-50; Truckee and South Lake Tahoe are on the interstate and the highway but their streets are not built for a hauler, so the handover is at a lot near the exit. Travis and Beale set their own rules; the driver meets you outside the gate or at your off-base address.
Winter is the one variable. Donner Pass closes in storms, and an eastbound truck either waits a day at Roseville or runs I-5 south to I-40; your specialist tells you which the driver chose and nothing is charged. Belongings stay under about 100 pounds, below the window line, uninsured. The FasTrak comes off the windshield. A car leaving California keeps its title with you and a financed or leased car crosses state lines without lender approval.

Loads for I-80 east and I-5 in both directions build in Roseville and West Sacramento, so we schedule a Sacramento pickup for Denver, Seattle, Dallas or New York as a stop on a departing load rather than a detour.
From November to April your specialist checks the pass against your window. If it closes, you hear whether the driver is waiting or rerouting before you have to ask, and rescheduling costs nothing.
Auburn, Placerville, Truckee and South Lake Tahoe are workable meeting points for a hauler. The spot is confirmed when the truck is assigned, with the driver's number.

One to three days. Sacramento is where I-80 and I-5 cross, so trucks heading east over the Sierra and north to Oregon pass through, and the yards in West Sacramento and Roseville build loads for both.
I-80 over Donner Pass through Reno, Salt Lake City, Wyoming and Nebraska to Chicago and the East. In winter, when the pass closes, drivers run I-5 south to I-40 instead.
Midtown, East Sacramento's tree-lined streets, Land Park, Curtis Park and downtown. Roseville, Rocklin, Folsom, Elk Grove, Natomas, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights and El Dorado Hills are direct to the door.
May through August for relocations, and September for state-government and university moves. November through February is cheapest apart from the holiday weeks.
Yes, with a meeting point. Truckee and South Lake Tahoe are on I-80 and US-50 but their streets are not built for a hauler; Auburn, Placerville and Grass Valley are handled from the highway.
Eastbound, sometimes. Donner Pass closes in storms and trucks either wait a day or reroute south. Nothing is charged for the hold and your specialist tells you which the driver chose.
