Brooklyn ships a great many cars and almost none of them from the curb outside the owner's building. The borough's grid of narrow one-way streets, alternate-side parking, double-parked delivery vans and low-hanging trees keeps a 75-foot car hauler out of nearly every residential block, so a Brooklyn shipment starts with the driver's call the day before and a meeting spot both sides agree on. The regulars are well known: the big-box lots in Bay Ridge and along the Belt Parkway, the Gateway Center in East New York, the Red Hook and Sunset Park waterfront lots, the Kings Plaza area and the Costco in Sunset Park.
The volume is there because Brooklyn is on every New York load. Florida-bound snowbird cars from Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Sheepshead Bay and Mill Basin every fall, relocations to Florida, Texas and California, students, and cars bought from the dealers on Kings Highway and Fourth Avenue for buyers elsewhere keep the Red Hook and Sunset Park yards turning trucks around. A pickup is typically assigned within one to three days. The quote form above is set to Brooklyn; add the other end of the trip and your vehicle for a range.

A few neighborhoods take a truck directly. Bay Ridge's avenues, Dyker Heights, Marine Park, Mill Basin, Bergen Beach and Gerritsen Beach have wide enough streets and driveways that a driver will sometimes come to the house, deciding the day before. Everywhere else, Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Flatbush, Ditmas Park, Bensonhurst and Sheepshead Bay, is a meeting spot.
The spots are chosen for the truck. Bay Ridge's big-box lots and the Belt Parkway lots serve the south and west; the Gateway Center serves East New York, Canarsie and Flatlands; Red Hook and Sunset Park's waterfront lots serve the brownstone neighborhoods and downtown; the Kings Plaza area serves Mill Basin and Marine Park; and the Costco in Sunset Park is a regular for everyone. Drivers pick hours outside street-cleaning windows and no-standing zones and confirm both in the call.
Garages and receivers are the other question. Many Brooklyn cars live in a garage, and a garage attendant who agrees to walk the inspection and sign the bill of lading can hand over or receive the car; otherwise name a friend or family member, give them the driver's number and your pickup photos, and make sure they have an hour to spare on the delivery day. JFK's hotel lots on the Van Wyck are the usual airport handover.
The E-ZPass comes off the windshield or the truck bills it at every gantry to Florida. Belongings stay under about 100 pounds, below the window line, uninsured. The driver takes a key and glances at a photo ID; the title stays with you and a financed or leased car crosses state lines without lender approval. A nor'easter from December through March can hold a pickup a day; carriers wait and nothing is charged.

A hauler cannot stop on most Brooklyn streets, so the handover is at a lot in Bay Ridge, the Gateway Center, Red Hook or the Sunset Park Costco. You are told the spot, the hour and the driver's number when the truck is assigned.
Loads turn around in Red Hook, Sunset Park and Staten Island, so we schedule a Brooklyn pickup as a stop on a departing load and quote the window that goes with it, even in November.
Most Brooklyn deliveries are met by a garage attendant, a friend or a relative. Your specialist arranges it when you book, with the pickup photos and the paperwork in the receiver's hands before the truck arrives.

Rarely. Alternate-side parking, double-parked cars and narrow one-way streets keep a 75-foot hauler out of most of Brooklyn. A few wide streets in Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Marine Park and Mill Basin work; everywhere else is a pre-agreed meeting spot.

One to three days. Brooklyn is on every New York load, and the yards in Red Hook, Sunset Park and across the Verrazzano on Staten Island turn trucks around.
