Buffalo's snowbirds do not go down I-95. Western New York is closer to Pittsburgh than to the George Washington Bridge, so the trucks that carry Amherst, Orchard Park and Clarence cars to Florida each fall run I-90 to Erie, I-79 south through Pittsburgh and West Virginia, and I-77 through the Carolinas, or I-75 through Ohio for the Gulf Coast. It is about a day longer than a downstate pickup and priced a step higher, and it shares trucks with Rochester, Erie and Pittsburgh rather than with New York City.
The season starts early because winter does. Bookings begin in early October, the peak runs through December, and lake-effect snow is the local variable from November on. The rest of the year is relocations to the medical campus and the university, UB students every August and May, retirees to Florida and Arizona, Niagara Falls Air Reserve families, and cars bought from the dealer rows on Transit Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard for buyers elsewhere. The quote form above is set to Buffalo; add the other end of the trip and your vehicle for a range.

The suburbs are driveway pickups. Amherst, Williamsville, Clarence, East Amherst, Cheektowaga, Lancaster, Depew, West Seneca, Orchard Park, Hamburg, East Aurora, Grand Island, Tonawanda and Kenmore take a 75-foot truck wherever the street lets it turn without reversing and the snowbanks allow. Gated developments are few; where they exist, the driver meets you at the gate.
The city is a meeting point. The Elmwood Village, Allentown, the Delaware District, North Buffalo's narrower streets, the West Side, Black Rock and downtown have parked cars, trees and no room to turn, and the driver names a big-box lot on Delaware Avenue, Niagara Falls Boulevard, Transit Road or near the Galleria. Buffalo Niagara International's hotel lots on Genesee Street in Cheektowaga are the usual handover for anyone flying the same day, and Niagara Falls, Lockport and the Southtowns are collected on the way to I-90.
Snow is the season's fact. Lake-effect bands can drop a foot on the Southtowns while Amherst stays clear, and a pickup can slip a day or two while roads reopen; carriers wait rather than drive into it and nothing is charged. Have the driveway cleared, start the car that morning so it loads under its own power, and if your street is not plowed, meet the driver on a main road. A car that will not start in the cold becomes a winch job and a surcharge.
The E-ZPass comes off the windshield or the truck bills it on the Thruway and beyond. Belongings stay under about 100 pounds, below the window line, uninsured. The driver takes a key and glances at a photo ID; the title stays with you and a financed or leased car crosses state lines without lender approval. The border comes up because it is twenty minutes away; cross-border shipments are a separate service with customs paperwork.

Western New York cars go south through Pittsburgh and Ohio on I-79 and I-75, and we quote the transit window and price for that route, not a downstate I-95 number that does not apply.
Buffalo books from early October. If your dates fall in October or November your specialist says so at the first call and asks for two to three weeks of lead time, which keeps the price in the lower half of the range.
From November to March your specialist checks the forecast against your pickup window. If a band is coming through, you hear about it before the driver is stuck on the 219, and rescheduling costs nothing.

888-706-8784Roughly $950–$1,325 to Tampa, $1,000–$1,400 to Fort Myers, $925–$1,300 to Orlando, $1,025–$1,425 to Miami and $1,300–$1,750 to Phoenix for a running sedan on an open carrier. Enclosed adds 40–60%; SUVs and pickups 12–20%.
Two to four days. Buffalo is off the main I-95 corridor, so carriers reach it on I-90 and route south on I-79 and I-77 rather than through New York City. The yards in Cheektowaga and Tonawanda turn some loads around locally.
I-90 to Erie, I-79 south through Pittsburgh and West Virginia, I-77 through the Carolinas and I-26 to I-95, or I-75 via Ohio for the Gulf Coast. It runs about a day longer than a Northeast pickup.
The Elmwood Village, Allentown, North Buffalo's narrower streets, the West Side and downtown. Amherst, Williamsville, Clarence, Orchard Park, Hamburg, East Aurora, Lancaster and Grand Island are direct to the door.
It can hold a pickup by a day or two, and carriers wait it out at no charge. Have the driveway cleared, start the car that morning, and meet the driver on a plowed main road if your street is not done.
Outbound to Florida from October through December, earlier than downstate because winter comes sooner, and inbound from late March through May. Summer is relocations and UB moves.
Not on a domestic carrier. Cross-border shipments involve customs and a different service; we can point you to one. Within the US, Buffalo is served like any other city.
