Houston sits on I-10 halfway between Los Angeles and Florida, which makes it a stop on the busiest southern lane in the country in both directions. Trucks from California drop cars here on the way to Florida; trucks from Florida drop cars here on the way west; I-45 links the city to Dallas and the northern lanes; and the carrier yards along I-10 East and US-290 turn all of them around daily. A pickup is typically assigned within a day or two, and prices from the big origins run at the low end of the Texas ranges.
The customers follow the city's economy. Energy, medical-center and aerospace relocations from California, the Northeast and abroad. Families moving into the master-planned communities in Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands and Cypress. Students at Rice and the University of Houston. Military families between Ellington Field and the Gulf Coast installations. And a large dealer and auction trade that moves cars in and out of the city all week. The quote form above is set to Houston; add the other end of the trip and your vehicle for a range.

Outside the 610 Loop, Houston is easy for a 75-foot truck. Katy, Sugar Land, Missouri City, Pearland, Friendswood, Clear Lake, League City, The Woodlands, Spring, Cypress, Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita are driveway pickups wherever the street lets the truck turn. The master-planned communities are mostly gated and admit a delivery truck with a call from the resident, or the driver meets you at the nearest plaza; it does not change the price.
Inside the Loop, the driver names a meeting point. Montrose, the Heights, River Oaks, Midtown, the Museum District and downtown have narrow streets, low branches and no room to turn, and the regular spots are big-box lots off I-10, US-59 and 288 and the garage exits at the larger buildings. Bush Intercontinental's hotel lots on JFK Boulevard and Hobby's on Broadway are the usual handovers for anyone flying the same day.
Weather and traffic are the local variables. From August through October a Gulf storm can close the interstates for a day or two, and carriers wait rather than drive into it; nothing is charged for the hold. Flooding on the bayous after a heavy rain can close a neighborhood for a morning. And the Katy Freeway, 610 and the Beltway crawl at rush hour, so drivers schedule inner-city handovers off-peak.
The port question comes up because Houston has one. For a domestic shipment the port is not involved; the car goes door to door on a truck. Overseas shipping through Port Houston is a separate service with customs paperwork, and we can point you to a forwarder.

Houston is a stop on the California-to-Florida lane, not a detour, so we schedule a pickup here as a stop on a passing load and quote the short window that goes with it.
Gates in Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands and Cypress each have their own rule: some admit a hauler with a call, some want a plaza handover. Your specialist confirms which applies when the truck is assigned.
From August through October your specialist checks the Gulf forecast against your window. If a storm threatens it, you hear about it before the driver is stuck on I-10, and rescheduling costs nothing.
